The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a dynamic and detailoriented professional to serve as Director of Curriculum and Education and provide administration direction for the Illinois School for the Deaf (ISD). The Director of Curriculum and Instruction administers and/or facilitates curricular placement testing for students across campus as needed throughout the school year. This position develops and maintains a curricular scope and sequence for the school in all subject areas taught and confers with school administrators and teachers regarding the academic needs of the students served at the school. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction also assists school staff in curriculum development and assessment techniques writing measurable teaching objectives and lesson plan development and serves as a working supervisor.
Serves as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the Illinois School for the Deaf (ISD).
Administers and/or facilitates curricular placement testing for students across campus as needed throughout the school year.
Develops and maintains a curricular scope and sequence for the school in all subject areas taught.
Serves as a working supervisor.
Confers with school administrators and teachers regarding the academic needs of the students served at the school.
Assists school staff in curriculum development and assessment techniques writing measurable teaching objectives and lesson plan development.
Serves as a school administrator for establishing and reviewing educational curricula lesson plans and progress for students.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Requires a masters degree in education of the deaf or a directly related field and a current and valid Illinois Board of Education (ISBE) issued Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative Endorsement.
Requires three (3) years of experience in teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Requires the ability to communicate in sign language at the advanced level.
Three (3) years of professional experience ensuring educational programing and school courses are compliant with school codes state and federal statutes and regulations including formulating interpreting and executing educational policies and procedures.
Three (3) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work providing guidance to subordinates recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements training staff approving time off and preparing and signing performance evaluations.
Three (3) years of professional experience administering assessments to deaf and hard of hearing students.
Three (3) years of professional experience researching providing training on and implementing various curricula in an educational environment.
Three (3) years of professional experience developing and maintaining professional working relationships with administration teachers staff students parents vendors and the public.
Three (3) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail while multitasking multiple projects.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 1509) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
