Job Description
- 25% Assists with supervision of student clinical learning experiences when the qualified and experienced faculty member is physically present in the affiliate agency or alternative practice setting with a faculty to student ratio of 2:15 (faculty plus clinical teaching assistant).
- 25% Participates in training sessions with ADN faculty for an orientation to clinical teaching and to establish a mutual plan to enable students to meet clinical objectives.
- 25% Assist the faculty to plan and coordinate learning experiences related to clinical objectives and assists the faculty with supervision of various learning activities in skills lab and simulation lab.
- 15% Provides input into verbal and written formative evaluation of students and clinical experiences to measure the attainment of objectives.
- 10% Assists Lab Coordinator with setup and cleanup of skills lab and simulation lab as well as helping monitor the maintenance of equipment and ordering of supplies.
- Demonstrates the Viking Values of balance clarity gratitude service teamwork and trust.
- Provides quality instruction to students.
- Creates and maintains effective relationship with students faculty and staff in order to provide a high level of service and support.
- Promotes the values of diversity equity and inclusion when assisting students or faculty.
- Maintains current certifications up to date CPR and required immunizations. Submits to drug screen and background checks according to policy.
- Provides leadership and models positive and professional behavior for students.
- Represents Grayson College well; serves as an ambassador for the college in the community.
- Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations relating to higher education and Grayson College Associate Degree Nursing policies and procedures.
- Maintains acceptable record of timeliness and attendance.
- Demonstrates strong commitment to implementing student engagement within curriculum.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of current professional clinical nursing experience and possess clinical expertise to function effectively and safely in the designated area of teaching.
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
- Certifications/License: Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
- Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy tact and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information building relationships or soliciting cooperation.
- Other Skills: Prepares documents on the computer using Canvas or other online course system. Designs presentations using computer programs.
- Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion which includes standing walking bending and lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Work Environment: A classroom environment. This position may require moderate travel to clinical class sites. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks coats gowns boots goggles gloves or shields.
