Job Description
Complex Litigation Attorney
Career Consulting Partners has partnered with a private boutique firm specializing in complex matters involving Business Litigation Commercial Litigation and Real Estate litigation. We are seeking a Mid to Senior Level Business Associate to work out of Torrance California. Part of what makes us different from other local law firms is that our attorneys handle both transactional and litigation matters. The primary areas of our practice are real estate law partnership law shareholder disputes business and commercial law construction litigation and related disputes.
Duties:
- Manage a shared caseload of approximately 40 active cases involving Business Real Estate Commercial and Construction disputes handling cases from inception through resolution.
- Develop and execute comprehensive case strategies including legal research drafting pleadings motions and trial preparation.
- Conduct and defend depositions participate in mediations arbitrations and court hearings.
- Manage all phases of written discovery including propounding and responding to discovery requests.
- Advise clients on business formation startups and construction litigation matters such as breach of contract construction defects delay claims and payment disputes.
- Handle business/commercial litigation matters including contract negotiations corporate governance mergers and acquisitions and employment law issues.
- Represent clients in real estate litigation including landowner liability quiet title actions wrongful foreclosure easement and boundary disputes landlordtenant disputes and brokerage claims.
- Maintain consistent client communication and effectively manage caseload with attention to deadlines and procedural requirements.
Requirements:
- Member of the California Bar and in good standing.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- 4 years of experience practicing as an attorney in California Civil Litigation.
- Interacting with clients and managing client expectations working well under pressure.
- Strong capacity to conceptualize and apply legal theories and strategies.
- Possesses a strong work ethic.
- Willing to work long hours particularly when preparing for trial and while on trial.
- Ability to multitask and work as a team member in a collaborative office environment.
- Strong research writing and analytical skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Medical & Profit Sharing Plan
- Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays
- Base Compensation: $170000 $215000
- Billable Minimum 1600
- Plus performance commission/bonuses
