The Mammography Technologist performs highquality mammography procedures and assists radiologists with specialized procedures to support the diagnosis and early detection of breast abnormalities. This role supports the mission vision values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist Program
Meets MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) guidelines
ARRT (M) required
Current BCLS certification
OR ARRT (R) must obtain ARRT (M) within 1 year of orientation
TDH (Texas Department of Health) license
1 year of experience preferred (new graduates considered based on department needs)
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Effective organizational and time management abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
Bilingual skills a plus
Maintains confidentiality of patient information
Strong public interaction skills; ability to remain calm and tactful
Verifies patient identity and procedure details
Ensures informed consent is obtained when needed
Explains procedures to patients
Collaborates with radiologists and staff for optimal care
Manages patient throughput and workflow
Volunteers for additional duties as needed
Adjusts to schedule changes
Maintains and checks mammography equipment
Stocks and manages inventory
Inputs accurate procedure data into PACS and HIS/RIS
Follows ACR and MQSA quality standards
Uses radiation safety practices and monitors exposure
Follows infection control procedures
Cleans equipment and workspaces regularly
Adheres to workplace safety protocols
Assists in orienting new staff
Supports clinical education for students
Participates in performance improvement initiatives
Shares knowledge and promotes team development
Greets patients courteously
Assists in transport and coordination of patient procedures
Prepares sterile fields and selects appropriate supplies
Operates mammography bone density and stereotactic equipment efficiently
