Job Description
Job Title: Factory Lead/Manager
Industry: PreEngineered Buildings (PEB) / Steel Construction
Location: Anywhere in India
Employment Type: Fulltime
Experience required: 1015 years in PEB/Steel Fabrication
Reporting To: Plant Head / Operations Director
Job Summary
The Factory Manager will oversee the entire manufacturing operations of the PEB plant ensuring efficient production quality control safety compliance and timely delivery of preengineered steel structures. The role involves managing shop floor operations optimizing resources and maintaining high standards in fabrication welding painting and assembly of PEB components.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Operations Management
- Plan and supervise daily manufacturing operations (cutting welding fabrication assembly painting etc.).
- Ensure ontime production as per project schedules and client requirements.
- Optimize resource utilization (manpower machinery raw materials) to maximize efficiency.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and improve productivity.
- Monitor machine maintenance to minimize downtime.
2. Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to industry standards (AISC AWS EN IS codes) in fabrication and welding.
- Conduct regular quality checks on raw materials inprocess production and finished goods.
- Implement ISO 9001 ISO 3834 or other quality certifications compliance.
- Coordinate with QC/QA teams to resolve defects and nonconformities.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict safety protocols (PPE fire safety machine operations) as per Factories Act & OSHA standards.
- Conduct safety audits hazard identification and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (pollution control labor laws etc.).
4. Team Management
- Lead a team of production supervisors welders fitters and laborers.
- Conduct training programs for skill development (welding techniques safety automation).
- Manage shift schedules attendance and performance evaluations.
5. Cost & Inventory Control
- Monitor material consumption vs. BOM (Bill of Materials) to prevent wastage.
- Manage inventory levels of steel bolts paints and consumables.
- Reduce production costs through process optimization.
6. Coordination with Other Departments
- Work with Design & Engineering teams to resolve fabrication issues.
- Liaise with Project Management for timely material dispatch to construction sites.
- Collaborate with Procurement for raw material sourcing.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: BE/ in Mechanical/Production/Civil Engineering or Diploma with relevant experience.
- Experience:
- 10 years in PEB/Steel Fabrication/Heavy Engineering.
- Handson knowledge of CNC machines welding (SAW MIG TIG) and fabrication processes.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of AutoCAD SAP (PP/MM modules) and ERP systems.
- Familiarity with nondestructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
- Excellent communication in English & Hindi (regional language preferred).
