Job Description


JOB PURPOSE

The Janitor will be responsible for maintaining a clean safe and welcoming outdoor environment across our KOFISI Centres by performing routine cleaning waste removal and minor facility repairs. The Janitor s work is essential for sustaining operational efficiency and upholding the high standards of hygiene and comfort our members expect.

OVERALL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Daily Cleaning & Maintenance:

    • Sweep mop and vacuum floors in common areas kitchens restrooms and offices.
    • Dust and wipe down surfaces windowsills furniture and fixtures.
    • Empty trash bins transport and dispose of waste and recycling according to company procedures.

Minor Repairs & Facility Checks:

    • Perform basic repairs (e.g. changing light bulbs tightening loose screws fixing door handles).
    • Inspect and report on HVAC filters plumbing leaks and other building systems requiring professional attention.
    • Coordinate with Facilities Management team on all repair or service needs.

Health & Safety Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
    • Ensure wetfloor signs are placed during cleaning to prevent slips and falls.
    • Report any hazards incidents or security concerns to Facilities Management and Centre s Client Relations Manager immediately.

Special Projects & Event Preparation:

    • Assist with the setup and teardown of furniture or equipment before and after Centre events.
    • Conduct periodic deepcleaning tasks as scheduled.

Inventory Management:

    • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and equipment.
    • Alert Facilities Coordinator when stock levels run low or equipment needs repair servicing or replacement.


Requirements

Essential

o 1 2 years experience in janitorial custodial or facilitiesmaintenance roles.

o Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

o Dependable selfmotivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

o Basic understanding of health safety and environmental regulations related to cleaning.

o Good physical stamina (ability to lift up to 25 kg stand bend and walk for extended periods).


Desirable

o Basic repair skills (e.g. minor plumbing carpentry or electrical tasks).

o Experience using industrial cleaning equipment (floor buffers carpet extractors).

o Familiarity with recycling and wastemanagement best practices.

o Certification or training in the safe handling of cleaning chemicals (e.g. OSHA Hazard Communication).


Working Conditions:

o Flexible schedule including early mornings evenings and occasional weekends to accommodate Centre needs and events.

o Indoor and outdoor duties; exposure to cleaning chemicals and occasional loud noise.

o Required to comply with all personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
