Role: Cyber Physical Research Engineer Consultant
Location: Cambridge

Breakthrough technology is vital for strengthening the UKs Defence & Homeland Security. As an Embedded Cyber Security Engineer at Awerian you will be at the forefront of this innovation race by helping to defend and protect the UK from the latest technological and cyber threats.
Embedded cyber security research is crucial for the success of businesses and governments as well as national and personal safety. It demands technical expertise coupled with creative thinking to understand the connections between the software hardware technological infrastructure and user interaction of systems to identify understand and design solutions to protect against potential vulnerabilities.
Awerian works with leading industry and national defence partners to assess critical systems for potential vulnerabilities contributing novel software and hardware cyber defence techniques which use Awerians physicsfirst mindset to go far beyond the typical IT approach to cyber security.
Requirements:
- Do you have an innate curiosity about how the world works

- Do you take things apart and put them together again to see why and how they work
If so we would like to hear from you.
You will have an undergraduate degree and you should have a deep understanding of electronics hardware software architecture sensors and/or systems and their functionality in real world applications. You may have experience and/or interest in technology vulnerability research perhaps through professional work or participation in ethical hacking events (such as CaptureTheFlag challenges). Alternatively you may have research experience in a relevant field which can include Engineering Computer Science Cyber Security Physics or Mathematics.
Experience in some of the following areas is additionally of benefit:
- Creation of hardware prototypes
- Hardware security
- Simulation modelling and data analysis
- Network and Protocol analysis
- Programming in C C or Python
- Familiarity of Software Defined Radios
- Familiarity of Linux
- Cryptography
- IOT Systems
- OSINT.
