The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Outreach worker supports the inclusion of children from CALD backgrounds in kindergarten and PrePrep. They support children and families from CALD backgrounds including those experiencing vulnerability to get the benefits of early childhood education.
What youll be doing:
- Work in collaboration with Early Years Providers Allied Health Professionals and other key stakeholders and partners to identify and respond to barriers including strengthening referral pathways promotion of services and identification of opportunities to develop the service system.
- Build the capacity of key stakeholders to support the early identification and engagement of vulnerable children.
- Review evaluate and adapt systems to support the early identification and engagement of vulnerable children and measures to support their sustained engagement in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services.
- Strengthen engagement processes to both increase and support kindergarten participation including active outreach sector capacity building effective community engagement and targeted promotion.
- Support the engagement and enrolment of families with complex needs where process and registration may become a barrier.
- Support the sharing of information and access and engagement in universal and enhanced Maternal Child Health (MCH) services immunisation and specialist health services for Children in Out of Home Care.
- Contribute to and establish systems and networks to facilitate the ongoing information sharing and awareness of processes and systems.
- Contribute to planning and implementation of broader approaches to support the ongoing support of vulnerable families and children.
The skills and experience youll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in supporting the effective use of policy and strategic documents including the development and preparation of relevant reports.
- Demonstrated experience in working with families with young children including those who are experiencing disadvantage and/or vulnerability.
- Knowledge and experience in working with families from CALD backgrounds which have experienced trauma vulnerability disadvantage and/or complex needs and an understanding of the barriers to engagement with Early Childhood Education and Care services.
- Knowledge and ability to implement a strengthsbased approach to engaging families and maintain a holistic view of a child and families life experiences.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to adapt communication build relationships and strong collaborative partnerships gain cooperation from stakeholders with various levels of understanding and/or experience.
- Use innovative strategies to engage families who may be experiencing complex life situations and communication barriers.
- Network internally and externally to gain and share knowledge and experience where necessary.
- Demonstrated experience working with and engaging multicultural communities community leaders and families who are experiencing complex situations and barriers to communication.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- A tertiary qualification with relevant experience in either early childhood education health welfare social work community development or community services or with substantial experience.
- Victorian Drivers Licence
