Position Information

Bring Your Administrative Expertise to Public Service

The Department of Environmental ServicesWastewater Engineering and Construction Division is hiring aSecretary II located in Honolulu. This position acts as Secretary to the Head of the Construction Management Branch and assists the Secretary to the Division Chief.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Logging reviewing and screening incoming correspondence;
  • Preparing general correspondence and independently acknowledging routine correspondence;
  • Preparing purchase order forms and ordering supplies and equipment;
  • Establishing and maintaining office files for the respective groups.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a noncitizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three years of secretarial stenographic or substantive clerical experience.

Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures; basic principles and capabilities of word processors and computers; filing methods and systems; grammar spelling and word usage; use of standard office equipment; and the ability to type/input information accurately; understand and effectively use word processing and other software applications; understand and interpret laws ordinances rules and regulations; summarize and brief materials; give and follow oral and written instructions; and deal tactfully and effectively with employees and the public.

Your score will be based on the quality and quantity of your education experience and/or other related job requirements and competencies applicable to the position.
