Were looking for a Platform Engineer in our Developer Experience team that can help us in our mission. This is a role focused on Backend engineering however it has crossover with many other aspects.

Preply is going through a tremendous growth phase. This is a centralized DevEx team for a 100 engineering organisation. Were looking for highly motivated and independent people who can navigate and find their way in a place with ambiguity which offers the opportunity to influence our engineering culture promote engineering excellence and scope and drive initiatives together with the other teams.

What youll be doing:

• Unlock Developer Productivity: Identify and resolve pain points in code build test and deployment workflows to make our engineers lives easier.
• Support: Become the goto expert for diagnosing and resolving development environment and tool issues.
• Tool Evaluation: Test evaluate and investigate software development tools and collaborate with vendors to elevate our development process.
• Automation: Automate repetitive tasks and streamline development workflows.
• Collaboration: Partner with other tribes and squads in Platform tribe to deliver the best tools and practices for development workflows.
• Documentation and Training: Develop clear guidelines and conduct training sessions to help developers adopt new tools and processes.
• Onboarding: Simplify the onboarding process with userfriendly selfservice development environments.
• Technical Excellence: Help improve the Backend engineering experience and keep our tooling in tip top shape including AWS running infrastructure and tools supporting our engineers.
• DataDriven Improvements: Make measurable improvements to our CI/CD pipelines ensuring fast and reliable builds (currently around 90 deployments per day).
• Infrastructure Optimization: Maintain and optimize our development and testing infrastructure to provide stable and efficient environments.

Must Have

• Python development experience
• Experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins 1st priority GitHub Actions 2nd)
• Understanding of testing approaches (unit integration e2e)
• Experience with test automation and stability improvements
• Kubernetes experience
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Experience with public clouds
• Experience with backend applications monitoring profiling debugging

Nice to Have

• AI tooling experience (GitHub Copilot Cursor etc)
• Understanding of cloud architecture patterns
• Experience with GraphQL
• Database optimization experience
• Experience with localization tooling and pipelines
• Experience with FinOps practices and cost optimizations
