Job Description

4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in position involving geology or hydrology engineering chemistry physics biology environmental science &/or other comparable physical or health science field earth science &/or urban & regional planning experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.

Or baccalaureate degree in engineering chemistry physics biology environmental science earth science &/or urban & regional planning geology or other comparable physical or health science field.

Or positions involved in providing financial technical & administrative assistance for planning design & implementation of environmental infrastructure & pollution abatement & prevention projects applicants must have completed undergraduate core coursework in business/public administration public relations/marketing political science or communications or have 4 yrs. exp. in position involving public contact to explain policies procedures & programs of agency writing of promotional &/or explanatory publications & materials budgeting contract administration & working with others on team projects. Note: For all positions engaged in field work applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPAs solid waste program excluding those in the solid waste planning unit must obtain a sanitarianintraining certificate during their probationary period.

What we need YOU to do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist with the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC) at our Central Office in Columbus.

Were looking for a detaileddriven motivated individual whos a wiz with scientific numbers to analyze ambient air monitoring and emissions inventory data collected from regulated air sources and prepare the data for submission to state and federal databases including the National Emissions Inventory (NEI).

As a subject matter expert youll serve as the technical contact for implementing federal state and local toxics rules. Youll review and evaluate emissions data for toxicological effects measure toxic air pollutant concentrations and identify areas of concern.

Youll conduct emissions risk assessments which include developing inventories evaluating dispersion modeling and calculating inhalation exposure advise other divisions and local and state agencies on evaluating risk assessment procedures and products.

To keep stakeholders informed youll coordinate communication between state and local agencies concerning toxic air pollutants and provide information and education to the public concerning risk assessment and air pollutant issues.
