Job Description
Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Chiao Laboratory is looking for a motivated research technician to assist with the investigation of mechanisms of cardiac aging and agerelated cardiovascular diseases. The duties of this position will include mouse handling (injections blood and tissue sample collection) molecular biology techniques (RNA protein and metabolite extraction PCR western blotting) reagent preparation general laboratory maintenance and organization. Assignments are typically nonroutine and variable in nature.
Minimum Requirements
- BS/BA degree in one of the biological sciences physics chemistry or related area or equivalent years of relevant lab experience.
- Proficiency in handling laboratory mice.
- Basic computer skills including internet software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to understand and follow protocols accurately.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for presenting ideas and documenting procedures/data.
- Organizational skills for precise work with samples and chemicals.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical operations including rate ratio percent molarity and unit conversions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with laboratory mice and performing molecular biology techniques is highly desirable.
Work Hours
- Typically Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 5:30PM. Occasional work outside these hours will be considered with advanced notice.
