Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Vale of Glamorgan to assist with the appointment of a Maintenance Technician on a 5month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 15.6020.42/Hour

Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out a wide range of building fabric and minor mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks across council properties. This includes residential homes corporate buildings and public facilities. The role supports the delivery of safe compliant and wellmaintained environments for service users staff and the public. The postholder will work proactively as part of a responsive and planned maintenance team to deliver highquality repairs and improvements in line with health and safety legislation council policies and service standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake planned and reactive maintenance tasks across a range of building trades (e.g. plumbing joinery plastering painting).
  • Carry out faultfinding and basic electrical/mechanical repairs where competent and permitted.
  • Respond to maintenance requests emergency callouts and health & safety issues within agreed timescales.
  • Conduct regular inspections and checks of council properties to identify defects or required improvements.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with current legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act COSHH).

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in a relevant building trade (e.g. carpentry plumbing general maintenance).
  • Full clean UK driving licence (Council vehicle may be provided).
  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance or multitrade technician role.
  • Experience working within occupied buildings and publicfacing services (e.g. schools care homes offices).
  • Knowledge of building maintenance procedures tools and repair techniques.
