Job Description

Senior Accounts Assistant

Hitchin Hertfordshire

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 17:00 (Office Based)

Salary:(DOE)

Are you an experienced accounts professional with a background in practice Looking to join a wellestablished firm that values precision professionalism and client care

Were working with a respected financial services firm in Hitchin that provides tailored accounting and bookkeeping solutions to a wide and loyal client base. Known for their accuracy integrity and longstanding client relationships they are now looking to add a Senior Accounts Assistant to their growing team.

This role is ideally suited to someone with handson experience in an accountancy practice who thrives in a busy clientfacing environment and is confident managing multiple sets of books across a range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing daytoday bookkeeping for multiple clients across various industries.
  • Preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly VAT returns.
  • Assisting in the production of management accounts and financial statements.
  • Performing bank reconciliations and ensuring ledger accuracy.
  • Overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for client queries and financial support.
  • Supporting monthend and yearend close processes.
  • Assisting with payroll and statutory submissions as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a similar role within a practice environment.
  • Strong grasp of bookkeeping principles and doubleentry accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software: Xero QuickBooks Sage and strong Excel skills.
  • AAT qualified or partqualified ACCA/ACA (or equivalent experience)
  • High attention to detail and excellent time management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to liaise directly with clients.
  • A proactive organised approach and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
