Job Description

Job Title: Family Engagement & Student Support Specialist

Job Classification: Licensed Non Instructional

Reports to: Building Principal

Work Schedule: Academic Year (7:45 3:30)

General Description:


Success Academy at Boys & Girls Club is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Family Engagement & Student Support Specialist. This unique role blends the responsibilities of a school counselor social worker and family liaison while also supporting students through experiential and projectbased learning. Were looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment believes in the power of strong schoolfamily partnerships and is passionate about supporting students emotional and social development alongside their academic growth.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Social Work Counseling or a related field required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Valid Indiana Professional Educators License or certification (e.g. LCSW LMSW LPC or School Counselor)


Primary Responsibilities:


Family Engagement:

  • Build trusting relationships with families to foster a strong homeschool connection.
  • Design and facilitate family events workshops and resource nights that align with school priorities and community needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between school and home to support attendance communication and student success.

Counseling & Social Work:

  • Provide direct counseling services to students including individual and small group support for socialemotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and leadership to support students experiencing trauma behavioral challenges or barriers to learning.
  • Coordinate referrals to outside mental health social service and community resources as needed.
  • Support the development and implementation of schoolwide SEL (socialemotional learning) initiatives and restorative practices.

Experiential Learning:

  • Support the integration of experiential and handson learning into student support plans and behavior intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers to codesign fieldbased learning experiences that promote community connection and realworld learning.
  • Use projectbased or experiential methods to help students build resilience selfregulation and positive peer relationships.

School Activities:

  • Participate in extracurricular activities chaperone events or lead clubs as assigned
  • Contribute to school culture through student mentorship and professional collaboration

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working in an elementary school setting preferably in urban or charter schools.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity inclusion and culturally responsive practice.
  • Strong communication problemsolving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students families staff and community partners.
  • Must demonstrate foundational professionalism including consistent attendance punctuality adherence to school policies and procedures and strong employability skills. These are considered essential nonnegotiable expectations of the role.
