Were looking for a passionate and experienced Marine Maintenance Manager to join our Defence Maritime Support Services (DMSS) team at HMAS Coonawarra. In this handson role youll lead the planning and execution of all maintenance and docking activities for a fleet of Defence vessels. Youll collaborate closely with subcontractors the Port Team Site Manager and technical support staff to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently all while meeting strict compliance and safety standards.

As a Maintenance Manager in the Coonawarra team youll make a positive impact by:

  • Managing and overseeing all vessel dockings including scope planning compliance and cost control
  • Developing and implementing maintenance schedules using our enterprise asset management system (IFS)
  • Directing all planned and corrective maintenance activities ensuring timely and highquality outcomes
  • Leading and supporting technical staff contractors and operator/maintainers on maintenance tasks
  • Monitoring safety compliance and documentation including OQE and statutory certifications
  • Reporting on performance against KPIs and supporting continuous improvement initiatives

To be successful in this role youll have:

  • A relevant Diploma or Trade Certificate or Marine Engine Driver 1 (MED 1) qualification
  • Experience in vessel technical management maintenance planning or maritime superintendence
  • Strong understanding of maritime compliance and classification society rules
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage contractors and teams
  • Confidence using computerised maintenance systems (e.g. IFS) and MS Office
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (NV1)
