This Plans Examiner series offers those in the industry a chance to expand upon their knowledge and skills related to residential plan reviews and building codes in construction design while developing and nurturing strong relationships with a diverse group of customers.You will have the opportunity to dive right in to complex residential and commercial plan review andlargescaleconstruction projects that positivelyimpactthe local community.You and the team willsupport many exciting and unique projects from all spectrums of building construction including new school campuses apartment complexes and multifamily developments industrial warehouses and retirement communities throughout the county. Most recently our Plans Examiners reviewed plans forTehalehsRetirement Center.

Your success will come from yourknowledge in the application of building codes government regulations and construction practicesstrong communicationskills and a commitment to providing superior customer service.Maintaining a balance between new projects while ensuringa timelyresponse to your resubmitted plans is essential.During a review you willidentifydeficiencies in the submitted plan set anddeterminea course of action to keep the project moving forward.Ensuring plan reviewcommentswill need to be clear and concisefor follow up reviews.Building relationships inpreapplication meetingswill further your success as well as the teams.
Your Future in this Role:
Our team members are active in WABO and ICC and there will beample opportunitiesforyourcomprehensivetraining and skills improvement.This position provides many levels of growth while gaining experience and certifications.It offers a great foundation for future positions within Pierce County.
Core Daily Responsibilities:
Review commercial and residential blueprints and construction plans for conformance with various county codes.
Identifyplan discrepancies with established building codes and regulations. Establish criteria for correcting noncompliance of codes before building permits are issued.
Serve as liaison with Departments/Division as necessaryregardingcode compliance.
Provide information to architects engineers and the publicregardingcode compliance and plan corrections.
Coordinate or prepare reports drawings and code revisions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Additionalexperience or education may substitute equally for the general recruiting requirements.
Associate of Arts Degree in Building Technology EngineeringArchitectureor related field.
Three or more years of plansexaminingbuilding/fire inspection experience.
I.C.C. Plans Examiner Certification.
