The Department of Corrections Division of Institutions is recruiting for a Food Service Foreman position at the AnvilMountainCorrectional Center (AMCC) located in Nome Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Supervision of approximately 16 inmates in all aspects of preparation and serving nutritious wellbalanced meals for approximately 115 inmates in a secure institutional setting.
  • Train inmates in the art of food preparation cooking sanitation personal hygiene safety and the correct use of institutional kitchen equipment in accordance with the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Food Code; this includes preparation of special diets such as vegetarian low cholesterol/low fat diabetic food allergy finger food and other medically prescribed diets.
  • Ensure that security procedures are followed as they pertain to use and storage of knives and other sharps foods and contraband.
  • Monitors and records total meals served cost analysis reports; ensures food service operation is cost effective and within budget.
  • Directs and/or receives checks stores distributes and tracks facility food service inventory; ensures ongoing training of kitchen staff.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

Located in Nome Alaska Anvil Mountain Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 150 inmates both male and female. This position will be working closely around inmates and other staff on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Vacancies in this job class are filled through Union referral except for promotions demotions transfers and emergency appointments.

EDUCATION

CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS
Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.

DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIREMENT
