Job Description Summary:

The Tailored Systems Business Area within Electronics Program Office directorate delivers firstofakind fieldready microelectronics solutions in support of National Security missions. The Draper team is chartered with supporting the Nations most challenging problems by 1) providing an iterative and agile approach to innovative and creative technical solutions delivered at the speed of mission and 2) driving leading edge technology development efforts to support future mission needs. This role will support a large multidisciplinary team as part of a longstanding fastpaced contract with history of immense success. We are seeking mechanical/manufacturing engineers who excel in fastpaced dynamic work environments to deliver advanced technical solutions for USG customers. Engineers in this role will focus on production of new microelectronics products from prototypes through lowrate initial production. Candidates are required to have an inscope TOPSECRET clearance and will be expected to work in a classified environment with the current team in our Cambridge facility five days a week.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
Performs mechanical design concept exploration trade study analysis downselection prototyping and testing with minimal guidance from group leader.
Help define the design approach for a particular problem and independently execute assignments.
Contribute high quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance.
Proactively identify needs and concerns associated with design decisions and communicate them to project leadership.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities
Curiositydriven approach to solving complex customerdriven problems as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Collaborate and communicate effectively and openly with multidisciplinary program team members program leadership and nontechnical personnel.
Team player able to work in a fastpaced environment.
Ability to balance multiple competing tasks and demands.
Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Proficient with general modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB computeraided design (CAD) software and/or other design & analysis tools relevant to your discipline.

Education
Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field. Masters degree is preferred.

Experience
Requires 35 years with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or full cycle of mechanical design experience. 03 years experience with a masters degree.

Additional Job Description:

Perform mechanical design and development associated with the physical arrangement of electronic circuits including assembly design analysis build test and documentation support

Develop dielevel packaging solutions including proposing solutions for placement and control of sensing components requiring precise alignment to be maintained through shock vibration and thermal disturbances

Execute the design tolerance analysis evaluation or failure analysis of assigned projects using mechanical design principles.

Preferred Qualifications include:

Familiarity with materials fabrication and assembly techniques associated with printed circuit assemblies including surface mount technology high density substrates rigidflex designs and integrated circuit assembly

Familiarity designing/directing the physical layout of electrical circuits including SMD interconnect definition and integrated circuit assembly techniques

Familiarity with machine shop tools and processes prototyping and vendor coordination

Familiarity with die level assembly processes and associated automated assembly equipment.

Security Requirement:

Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Current in scope Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
