At the University of Oklahoma Academic Advisors play a critical role in student success. Academic Advisors oversee student degree planning by recommending course sequencing and monitoring progress towards degree completion. Academic Advisors assist students in realizing their educational professional and personal goals by offering specialized guidance. Advisors operate within an extensive campus network of institutional resources designed to help students maximize their college experience.
The Academic Advisor in the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education provides curriculum guidance and course direction for student entrance into teacher certification programs. Throughout the guidance and advising process the Advisor collaborates with Education faculty as well as other university departments to ensure that teacher certification and Education degree requirements are being fulfilled in accordance with Teacher Preparation Program policies of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Oklahoma State Department of Education University College licensure and accreditation policies. Academic Advisors assist with the enrollment process for the college in advised program areas to ensure that students can make academic progress. This may include course rosters semester course checks notifying department of time conflicts proper number of seats and appropriate number of sections. In addition Academic Advisors will assist with collection of data for reports and accreditation documentation.
Essential Duties will include:
Academic Advisors serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) by fulfilling training and reporting obligations related to campus safety protocols.
