Position Overview:

The Specialist is responsible for providing tobacco/vaping education to Harris County residents. The specialist will collaborate amongst the team effectively in order to continually improve programs geared toward tobacco/vaping prevention and cessation. The position responsibilities also include building and maintaining relationships with community partners.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides evidencebased tobacco/vaping prevention and cessation education to individuals and groups within Harris County.
  • Assists in developing and creating program curriculum training materials and presentations to meet the needs of target populations.
  • Plans and conducts outreach activities to increase the programs engagement and participation including attending community events such as health fairs.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners stakeholders schools and healthcare agencies across Harris County to support tobacco/vaping prevention and cessation activities.
  • Maintains documentation and tracks program metrics including participant data such as the number of individuals served.
  • Stays updated on current research approaches and practices related to tobacco/vaping.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
