Job Description

This position will work on several research and evaluation projects through both the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (Marinez PI) on the Fuerte program and the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (PRLIHPS) an organized research unit within the School of Medicine (Decker PI).

The position will support (60% FTE) the CA Behavioral Health Services Act funded Fuerte program by designing and conducting evaluation activities including interviews and focus groups in Spanish and English; survey administration; and data cleaning coding and analysis. The position is responsible for coordinating study activities with partner organizations including SF Unified School District and the SF Department of Public Health.

The position will also support (40% FTE) the NIHfunded Meet Me on the Pitch study by designing and conducting research activities including interviews and focus groups in Spanish and English; survey administration; and data cleaning coding and analysis. The position is responsible for coordinating study activities with partner organizations and with Youth Advisory Team. The Policy Analyst may also provide technical support to the local implementing agency write manuscripts and other deliverables present results and contribute to grantwriting efforts for this and other research projects.

The position will provide additional project support as needed including literature reviews meeting logistics and representing study team at meeting and conferences.

Occasional travel throughout the state is expected for meetings conferences and fieldwork.


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $80200 $120300 (Annual Rate).

  • Fluent in written and spoken Spanish.
  • Knowledge of common organization or researchspecific and other computer application programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Analytical / problemsolving skills.
  • Strong skills in analyzing researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
  • Ability to multitask with demanding timeframes.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns


    • Doctoral degree in public health or related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
    • Experience working with youth
    • Strong policy analysis techniques.
    • Strong presentation and group facilitations skills to conduct meetings and trainings
