The City of AuburnFinance Departmentis looking for aUtility Billing Account Representativeto join our team.This position performsbasicaccountingclerical work andcustomer servicetasks. This position is a front facing position geared to provide the best utility billing customer service experience possible. In many respects our staff are the face of the City so it is imperative that excellent customer service and assistance is delivered as we are here to serve our community and residents with answers to their questions and concerns.

WORK SCHEDULE
The Citys office hours are Monday Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour for lunch.

OUR CITY
The City of Auburn is home to over 80000 residents and encompasses over 29.8 square miles of land two rivers and is part of two counties King and Pierce. The City operates as a StrongMayor form of MayorCouncil government with a City Council of seven atlarge members.

OUR FINANCE DEPARTMENT
The Finance Department consists of 25 employees total with responsibilities ranging from operational accounting budgeting and utility billing. This position reports to the Utility Billing Supervisor and/or Manager.

Primary Duties

In this role you will:

  • Explain special billing and service programs to customer(e.g. Winter Averaging lowincome utility assistance and solid waste/recycling programs). May determine probability of eligibilitybased on specific written guidelines and refer customer to appropriate assistance agencies. Perform record maintenance on special billing programs/accounts with guidance by supervisor.
  • Update and maintain accurate account informationin the customer information system by inputting changes such as name and address changes billing adjustments and service disconnections.
  • Performs cashiering duties for utility payments miscellaneous AR including police seizure funds;posts transactions and documents including adjusting journal entries.

  • Open and close accounts for customersof one or more City utilities; request verify and/or change information for proper billing.
