This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing the Citys Climate Resilience Planning and Development Action Plan by leading Action #10 which focuses on enabling development of lowcarbon district energy systems. You will collaborate with various City teams under the direction of the District Energy Strategy Lead to define project details gather data for recommendations and ensure alignment across departments to achieve successful project outcomes.

What will you do
As the District Energy Project Coordinator you will:
- Drive City Climate Action: Lead the coordination of all aspects of Action #10 of the Climate Resilience Planning and Development Action Plan including establishing and actioning a project workplan developing a budget tracker as well as monitoring and communicating project progress
- Shape Policy and Process: Research identify develop and implement appropriate policy and regulatory tools to enable connection (or readiness to connect) of buildings in identified district energy opportunity areas in collaboration with City planning units and legal services
- Develop Supporting Materials: Develop technical standards guidelines and educational tools to enable district energy development in identified opportunity areas
- Project Stakeholder Identification & Engagement: Coordinate and collect feedback and implement recommendations throughout the project including identifying internal/external stakeholders and identifying public engagement needs in collaboration with the project team
- Consultant Management: Working within the Citys established procurement framework this position will hire consultants including developing descriptions of work coordinating requests for proposals evaluating proposals and managing contracts
- Collaborate with Diverse Groups: Work with crossdepartmental teams consultants and stakeholders to gather feedback provide guidance and inform project recommendations
- Conduct Research: Conduct ongoing primary and secondary research on district energy planning and development policy tools real estate climate resilience and renewables and grants or financing tools
- Communication: Create and present project documentation as needed including presentations leadership briefings Council reports and other documents as required
- Assist with the implementation of other District Energy Strategy projects and reporting as required
- Degree in Science Alternative Energy Economics Environmental Sciences Engineering Business or a related field
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a combination of strategic and operational business planning working with corporate performance measures and budgets and business case development including experience in analytics reporting and energy management is required
Assets:
- PMP CCMP or CMP
- Postgraduate degree in a related field
- Familiarity with relevant City policy and planning and development processes
Skills required for success:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines
- Project management experience in a public sector environment
- Knowledge of energy management renewable energy real estate financial systems and processes
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to summarize and prepare various materials such as presentations facilitation and information sessions
- Strong interpersonal skills and expertise to effectively consult with and lead/facilitate projects and deliverables involving diverse stakeholder groups
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in cross functional teams and work collaboratively to share resources and information
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships balancing competing requirements and ensuring service delivery
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a respectful inclusive and serviceminded style
