Since1981 Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto has served as a place tocall home for families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment. RMHCToronto encompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and sevenFamily Rooms in hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. Thefamilies we serve come from throughout Ontario across Canada and around theworld.
We arelooking for a Team Lead Family Rooms to join our growing team on acontract basis till the end of 2025. This contract might be eligible forrenewal. The schedule for this position will be 128 pm Tuesday Through Fridayand 84 pm on Saturday.
Aboutthe opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Family Roomsthe Team Lead is responsible for the daytoday operations of the Ronald McDonaldCommunity Family Rooms (6 rooms 4 locations). The Team Lead oversees the Community Family Rooms operationsincluding the team and the volunteers for the purpose of the implementation ofexisting programs and services assisting and supporting guests facilitymaintenance and the implementation of policies and operating procedures relatedto Family Rooms.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Overseethe Family Room Program operations including handson management and service delivery budgetadherence project management and facilities maintenance in accordance withestablished standards.
- Recruit onboard train and engage the Family Room team to ensure FamilyRooms are staffed to support operations.
- Lead engage develop and manage theFamily Rooms team providing timely feedback coaching and training.
- Ensureadherence to Ronald McDonald Family Room operating guidelines. Reviewand propose updates as necessary.
- Maintain relationships with keystakeholders (hospital management families donors) acting as a key contactfor Ronald McDonald Community Family Rooms.
- Oversee the collection and compilationof monthly and ad hoc Family Room metrics (KPIs).
- Liaise with Development/Communicationsto support impactful storytelling showcasing all aspects of mission.
- Establish national connections forbenchmarking purposes and ensure best practices of Ronald McDonald Family RoomProgram.
- Assistin the development of operatingand capital budgetsfor each Community Family Room. Monitor and report onadherence to approved budgets.
- Workcollaboratively as a member of the supervisory team to support overall achievement of organizationalgoals as well as consistency in service delivery and operational support acrosssites.
- Provide onsite and remote oncall supervisory support to all Family Roomsand the House per the guidelines of the rotatingschedule.
- Support the Family Rooms Coordinators inrecruiting onboarding training and engaging volunteers and ensure coverage atall times.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Minimumtwo (2) years experience in a supervisory role providing operationalfamily support services or related services. Experience working in healthcareunderstanding hospital relationships and roles of individual healthcareprofessionals within a hospital community is an asset.
- Experiencemanaging and scheduling shifts and working shift work / oncall.
- Experienceworking with individuals or families in crisis or under stress.
- Experiencesupervising staff or volunteers working in highly sensitive or emotionalsituations.
- Collegediploma in Social Services or Social Work or related field; bachelors degreepreferred.
Knowledge Skills &Abilities
- Completion of satisfactory reference check and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Handson leadership skillsincluding the ability to coach develop and mentor staff and volunteers.
- Strong customer service skills andexperience working with families in crisis. Comfort with crisis management andconflict resolution.
- Demonstrated deescalation andproblemsolving skills.
- Proven success in working withindepartmental budgets.
- Project management skills with theability to follow up on action items.
- Strong analytical andproblemsolving skills including the ability to be resourceful in definingsolutions.
- Clear verbal and writtencommunication skills with the ability to effectively present and clarify concerns and concepts tovarious audiences.
- Exemplary collaboration andinterpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintainrelationships with healthcare professionals staff and volunteers.
- Ability to work effectively within ateam as well as independently.
- Strong organizational skills withthe abilities to manage multiple deliverables in a timesensitive environment and adapt tofrequently changing priorities.
- Working knowledge in technologyincluding Microsoft Office and other databases / computerized maintenancemanagement system (CMMS).
- High degree of empathy andcompassion.
- Ability to work flexible hoursincluding evenings overnights weekends and public holidays to support a24hour operation.
- Valid G level drivers license andaccess to vehicle to facilitate regular visits to Community Family Rooms.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
