A postdoc position is available for vision sciencerelated projects specifically on identifying mechanisms of neuroprotection in FUSrelated pathology of the eye. Experience with cell biology drosophila or mouse experiments histology microscopy or cell cultures or iPSCcell culture swill be advantageous.
Minimum Education and Training Requirements:
PHD or equivalent with at least 7 years postdoctoral experience in molecular biology protein chemistry immunohistochemistry and/or cell biology as well as a documented history of scientific productivity in the forms of publications and meeting presentations.
Job Duties:
30% Characterize the protective effects of a research compound on FUS pathology in the drosophila eye
30% Perform experiments in the SOD2 knockout mouse to characterize mitochondrial structure and function in response to a research compound.
15% Maintain detailed account of experimental procedures and results take leadership roles in study design identification of new protocols or modification of existing protocols and give advice to PI.
10% Perform experiments on cultured cells and analyze biochemical reactions. Perform biochemical and immunological assays on fresh tissues and cultured cells. These assays include PCR western blot ELISA resistance measurements immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence.
10% Contribute to other research projects in the lab share expertise with fellow lab members proper equipment use and lab protocols.
5% Present results through peerreviewed publications presentations at local national and international meetings help in the preparation of grant applications with PI
