Job Description
Visa Technology & Operations LLC a Visa Inc. company needs a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin TX to
- Monitor troubleshoot automate and continuously develop software tools to improve the availability and resiliency of open source big data platforms at Visa.
- Perform big data administration and engineering activities on multiple open source clusters.
- Build and maintain relationships with customer teams the user community architects and engineering teams and jointly work on key deliverables to ensure production scalability and stability.
- Perform root cause analysis of major production incidents and develop learning documentation.
- Plan and perform capacity expansion and upgrades in timely manner avoiding any scaling issues and bugs.
- Automate repetitive tasks to reduce manual effort and avoid human error.
- Work closely with L3 teams in reviewing new cases cluster hardening techniques and performance problems.
- Leverage devops tools disciplines (e.g. incident problem and change management) and standards in daytoday operations.
- Position reports to the Austin TX office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications :
Basic Qualifications:
- Employer will accept a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field followed by 5 years of progressive postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related systems engineer or systems/software administrator occupation.
- Alternatively employer will accept a Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related systems engineer or systems/software administrator occupation.
- Position requires experience in the following:
- Hadoop Platform environments;
- Hadoop administration;
- Zookeeper;
- HDFS;
- Yarn;
- Hive;
- Spark;
- Shell and Python scripting; and
- Unix and Linux.
Additional Information :
Worksite: Austin TX
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 23 set days a week (determined by leadership/site) with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Travel Requirements: This position does not required travel.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk communicate in person and by telephone frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $134285.00 USD to $199300.00 USD per year which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on jobrelated factors which may include knowledge skills experience and location. In addition this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity.
