Job Summary:

The Social Work & Sociology department in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a MSW Practicum Education Coordinator and Lecturer of Social Work for our new fully online MSW program starting in June 2025.

Marist has been granted permission by NYSED and CSWE to develop a fully online MSW program that will have a traditional 2year standalone program as well as a 1year advanced standing program. We are seeking a MSW Practicum Education Coordinator and Lecturer of Social Work who will join us in the summer of 2025 as we open our doors to the first cohort of students. This position will be responsible for securing all field practicum experiences monitoring students experiences supervising practicum liaisons and teaching.

This position is an inperson position at Marist University main campus. The Practicum Education Coordinator will oversee traditional and employmentbased internships establish and maintain partnerships with practicum sites monitor student progress supervise practicum liaisons (if required) and instruct a synchronous practicum education seminar.

The successful candidate will have earned a masters degree in social work (MSW) from a CSWE accredited institution. We seek dynamic faculty who model the knowledge skills and values necessary for ethical practice.

Additionally this role requires experience in teaching in an online learning environment and the ability to provide training and guidance to practicum instructors and students in asynchronous and synchronous models.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in the newly renovated Dyson Center which includes a counseling/therapy suite with stateoftheart technological capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MSW
  • Prior experience teaching in a fully online format

Essential Functions:

  • Develop expand and oversee the practicum program including both traditional and employmentbased internship models.
  • Identify recruit and maintain partnerships with practicum sites at local regional and national levels.
  • Supervise and support practicum liaisons to ensure highquality student learning experiences.
  • Monitor student practicum placements track progress and provide proactive support to enhance student success.
  • Conduct site visits inperson via Zoom or through a hybrid model based on geographic feasibility.
  • Train and mentor practicum instructors in best practices for supervising students in asynchronous hybrid and remote practicum settings.
  • Develop and maintain the Practicum Manual ensuring compliance with CSWE accreditation standards.
  • Lead innovative initiatives in practicum education including exploring technologyenhanced supervision models competencybased practicum evaluation and studentcentered practicum designs.
  • Teach weekly practicum education seminars (synchronous format) and contribute to additional teaching responsibilities with a 50% course reduction for administrative duties.
  • Provide individualized student support including guidance on navigating online and employmentbased internships.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with CSWE accreditation assessment and reporting requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience teaching at the BSW and/or MSW level with a strong commitment to studentcentered equityfocused practicum education.
  • Demonstrated success in developing securing and maintaining diverse practicum sites including traditional and employmentbased internships to meet CSWE accreditation standards and evolving workforce needs.
  • Proven ability to oversee and enhance practicum education processes ensuring compliance with CSWE standards best practices and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across departments engaging faculty students agency partners and community stakeholders to strengthen practicum education.
  • Demonstrated initiative innovation and problemsolving skills with the ability to develop forwardthinking approaches to practicum education student support and practicum placement models.
  • Expertise in datainformed decisionmaking including tracking student progress assessing practicum education outcomes and leveraging analytics for program enhancement.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and digital tools including learning management systems (Brightspace) and practicum education tracking platforms: Intern Placement Tracking (IPT) to optimize student learning placement oversight and compliance monitoring.

About the Department/School:

The Social Work & Sociology department is one of four departments in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The other departments are psychology criminal justice and teacher education. The School also has graduate programs as follows: MA School Psychology; MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Masters of Arts in Teaching; MS in Education Contemporary Curriculum and Instruction.

The Social Work & Sociology department in collaboration with the Criminal Justice department is launching a dual major in Social Work and Criminal Justice. The Social Work Program is also in the process of creating a fully online MSW program.
