Job Description

Join Nines Legal team as Legal Counsel where youll provide expert editorial legal advice and assist with resolving complaints and disputes for our news and current affairs teams across all platforms. 

Our highenergy and fastpaced environment offers the opportunity to tackle complex issues and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Day to day you will:

  • Provide timely prepublication legal advice to editorial teams across all platforms
  • Manage and respond to legal and regulatory complaints and disputes related to content
  • Assist in the management of litigation subpoenas and statutory notices
  • Draft legal advice releases agreements and court/tribunal documents
  • Assist in developing and delivering legal training to various business units

Qualifications :

If youre a confident legal professional who possesses a sharp eye for detail a positive attitude and a genuine interest in news and current affairs this is your opportunity to propel your legal career!

What youll bring: 

  • Admission to legal practice in Australia and 25 years of legal experience (law firm or inhouse)
  • Proven experience in litigation/disputes media defamation IP or privacy
  • Proven ability to collaborate and manage multiple tasks and instructions effectively
  • Excellent communication drafting skills and strong attention to detail
  • Interest in and understanding of news and current affairs
  • Experience in a media business and/or prepublication advice is preferable but not essential
  • Exposure to the Television and Radio industry Codes of Practice is preferable but not essential
