Our Lady of Perpetual Help School (OLPH) is a Catholic school serving students from age 3 through 8th grade. The schools mission is to provide a quality Catholic education in a safe and nurturing environment.
General Summary of the Position
The 8th Grade ELA Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning guiding and evaluating the learning process of students. This position reports to the principal and operates within the framework of school policies philosophy organization and curriculum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Model Gospel values through conduct aligned with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Participate in religious ceremonies training and reflection activities as directed.
- Plan instruction with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum.
- Submit lesson plans according to school policies.
- Provide appropriate materials and resources for student engagement.
- Utilize effective instructional strategies in line with professional best practices.
- Administer both formative and summative assessments.
- Provide instruction and assessments that support student understanding.
- Maintain accurate academic and behavioral records.
- Manage the classroom with consistent positive discipline.
- Communicate with parents regarding academic progress behavior and safety.
- Maintain availability to students parents and staff within your work schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Comply with policies set forth in the Catholic Schools Office Handbook and TCCB ED Guide to Quality and Effectiveness.
Position Requirements
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge of effective instructional methods curriculum differentiation and child/adolescent development.
- Familiarity with religious education practices.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to collaborate and work independently.
- Organizational planning and critical thinking skills.
- Competency in conflict resolution and delegation.
- Effective use of jobappropriate technology.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university (required).
- Must meet the Diocese and TCCB EDs minimum teaching field requirements.
- Must fulfill ongoing staff development as required by the Diocese and school.
- Completion of Religion Certification per Catholic Schools Office and TCCB ED guidelines (if applicable).
Special Requirements
- Preferred: Practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Required: Willingness to understand and support Catholic teachings.
