The Cancer Screening Program is part of the Prevention and Screening team under the Primary and CommunityBased Care Portfolio at Ontario Health. Cancer Screening focuses specifically on the delivery of Ontarios four cancer screening programs: Colon Cancer Check the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) the Ontario Cervical Screening Program and the Ontario Lung Screening Program.
As a Senior Analyst Health Policy for the OBSP you will be an integral member of the OBSP team leading the development planning and implementation of evidencebased program policies for breast cancer screening. You will support the clinical and scientific leadership for these programs and be involved in initiatives to improve breast cancer screening in Ontario. Your role will also include developing evidencebased policy and program design materials to support change management and leading work to support program enhancements and operations.
Here is what you will be doing:
Develop needs assessments jurisdictional scans policy briefs options analyses and impact assessments to create program policies and guidance.
Support the clinical/scientific leads for the cancer screening programs and external consultants who provide guidance and thought leadership for the program.
Monitor collate and synthesize information on evidence including clinical evidence trends and best practices to facilitate planning and decision making.
Organize and support both internal and external working groups or advisory committees involved in policy development and program design.
Manage multiple work packages concurrently.
Provide management and stakeholders with programmatic/status updates feedback and appropriate reporting on projects.
Develop and present material for review and informational purposes using excellent written verbal and graphical communications skills with the ability to express complex concepts effectively.
Facilitate complex project interdependencies between projects and with key partners.
Take efficient and prompt action to resolve problems.
Work for consensus and contribute to the achievement of team/group goals.
Uphold the importance of core values and organizational culture.
Identify problems proactively and recommend thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
Perform crossfunctional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
An undergraduate degree (masters degree preferred) in health sciences health administration or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
Experience formulating policy and working on policy initiatives assessing impacts and conducting environmental scans and options analyses
Experience with leading complex work packages or workstreams of largescale projects
Familiarity with cancer screening or cancer in Canada would be an asset
An understanding of Ontarios healthcare system including primary care with particular emphasis on population and public health approaches theory and practice
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare briefing notes reports policy papers and evidence summaries
Strong relationshipbuilding skills with demonstrated experience engaging and building relationships and consensus among diverse stakeholders
Detailoriented with excellent organization and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a selfdirected manner with minimal supervision
