Job Description

The person in this position will work under the supervision of the building principal and the districts special programs director and is responsible for teaching students. This person will be responsible for providing designing and adapting instructional programs for the special educational needs of identified students in a variety of settings as well as case management of student files. This individual must work cooperatively with other members of the staff to provide students with a wellplanned organized instructional program utilizing data and evidencebased practices. This person is also responsible for directing and training Instructional Assistants.

The Junction City School District awards full experience credit for teaching experience outside of the district and picks up the employees share of Public Retirement System (PERS) contributions. Every licensed Special Educator receives anannual6% stipend and SLC Teachers receive a retention bonus of $1500 at the end of the first 3 years they are employed by the district. Beginning the 4th year the District pays an annual stiped of 3% of their annual Education Teachers havean additional three contract days added to their calendar that are not reflected in the salary range on the posting.

Qualifications Required

  1. Current Oregon Special Education Teaching License;
  2. Experience with meeting the specialized needs of students with a range of mild to moderate disabilities;
  3. Ability to provide appropriate instruction to students based on diagnosed needs;
  4. Skills in using data to make instructional decisions;
  5. Demonstrated behavior management techniques;
  6. Proficient in developing and implementing effective behavior intervention plans;
  7. Understand and adhere to special education law requirements;
  8. Ability to manage a workload to cover testing placement teaching conferencing and file management;
  9. Ability to write implement and follow up on IEPs for specific students in need of specialized instruction and facilitate IEP meetings;
  10. Knowledge and experience with Response to Intervention (RtI);
  11. Understanding of Common Core State Standards;
  12. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues support staff administrators students parents and patrons;
  13. Ability to convey to parents and teachers the students learning abilities and needs;
  14. Ability to provide direction and training to instructional assistants who are assigned to assist with student instruction;
  15. Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators.

Qualifications Desired

  1. Possession of or ability to obtain a current First Aid/CPR card.
