The Department

The Department of Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide offers the Practical Nurse Program and the Health Care Aide Program. This sessional will instruct from Northwestern Polytechnics Grande Prairie Campus. Located in the heart of Albertas Peace Country the Department of Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide offers the Practical Nurse Program and the Health Care Aide in the state of the art Health Education Centre located inside the award winning Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH) students benefit from smaller class sizes coupled with highquality personalized instruction onsite at GPRH ensuring ample opportunities for the learners of our region and students from across Canada and around the world.

The Role

The Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide department is seeking a Full Time Sessional Instructor to teach sections from within the Practical Nurse Program. This role will run from August 15th 2025 to May 1st 2026.

Applicants must hold a Practical Nurse Diploma or RN have current registration with a regulatory body (CRNA or CLPNA) and have two years of fulltime experience in nursing practice. Previous experience in teaching or supervision of students is desired. Experience with student centered learning approaches would be an asset. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.

Previous experience in teaching or supervision of students and experience with student centered learning approaches is desired. Knowledge of adult education may be demonstrated through prior completion of one of the following:

• Oneyear adult teaching experience;
• A baccalaureate degree in education; or
• Completion of an adult teaching/learning education program.

Successful candidates will be professionals with a positive attitude towards education; have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with students; be able to work independently and work collaboratively with colleagues; and demonstrate the ability to be selfdirected and motivated. You will be able to give guidance and direction to others creatively find solutions to challenges and be aware of goals and vision of nursing education. Working knowledge with computers word processing programs and Outlook would be an asset.

Candidates must be registered have a current practice permit and be in good standing with the applicable health professional regulatory college in accordance with the Health Professions Act. The candidates who are notified for an interview will be required to provide their registration and practice permit at the time of the interview.
