Role description:

Arcadis is seeking aSenior Utility Designerto join our fastgrowing Utilities team in West Toronto. This is a leadership opportunity to contribute to largescale transportation projects while leveraging your expertise in utility design and coordination.

In this role you will lead the preparation of detailed design drawings for wet utilities (storm sanitary and watermain) and guide multidisciplinary projects including civil highways and transit/rail infrastructure in the GTA. You will also mentor junior staff manage complex designs and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Role Accountabilities:
You will lead utility designs for MTO/Metrolinx and municipal projects including:

• Preparing and reviewing preliminary and detailed utility design drawings reports and memos.
• Designing temporary and permanent relocations of utilities including watermain sanitary/storm sewers gas electricity and telecommunications.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable standards guidelines and regulations.
• Coordinating with project teams clients contractors and thirdparty utility stakeholders.
• Evaluating technical alternatives resolving complex technical issues and interfacing with other disciplines.
• Developing preliminary designs using CAD tools (e.g. Bentley Autodesk) for wet and dry utilities.
• Designing utility protection and relocation plans across concept preliminary and detailed design phases.
• Mentoring junior staff and fostering their professional development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. Masters degree not required but also considered an asset.
• 8 years of experience on large complex transit/transportation projects with increasing levels of responsibility.

• Direct experience with GTA public and private utility companies is an asset.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (MicroStation Inroads/Open Roads or AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with trenchless methods for installing small and large diameter watermains and sewers is an asset.
• Construction field experience and familiarity with municipal and road authority standards are assets.
