Learning Coach Position The number of positions is dependent on Ministry funding that is pending


K 12 Learning Coach with FSL Focus (1.0 FTE)


Location: Board wide

Start date : Required for theSchool Year


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Ontario College of Teachers Accreditation
  • PR/JR/INT/SR Qualifications (minimum of two)
  • Hold or be working towards a 3 part French Second Language Specialist Additional Qualificationsor FSL Specialist
  • Earn the Apple Teacher Certification for iPad.
  • Five years certified teaching experience an asset
  • Must be a current permanent teacher with District School Board Ontario North East with a satisfactory TPA within the last 5 years
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License required as travel is expected


RESPONSIBILITIES

The FSL Coach will:


  • Support K12 FSL educators in implementing evidencebased instructional strategies aligned with the Science of Reading and the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
  • Support schools with EQAO assessments
  • Support the implementation of the boards French as a Second Language (FSL) Plan across Core French and French Immersion programs.
  • Coplan and cofacilitate professional learning sessions at both the school and board levels in alignment with School Improvement Plans for Student Achievement and Wellbeing (SIPSAW) and the Student Achievement Plan (SAP).
  • Develop and curate digital and print resources to support effective FSL instruction and assessment.
  • Embed the use of technology through the TPACK framework fostering 21stcentury skills and supporting FSL educators in using digital tools effectively including iPads.
  • Travel regularly within the coachs assigned region with occasional travel across regions. Technology will be leveraged to reduce the need for travel whenever possible.
