Power & Energy
SMEC is a global provider of engineering environmental and construction services consolidating all aspects of Energy and Renewables Infrastructure from planning to delivery. Our expertise includes grid connection studies substation design policy and sector planning carbon services load forecasting models and longterm generation planning using simulation and dynamic programming techniques. We have delivered standalone and gridtie photovoltaic and solar thermal projects water to wire services on mini and microhydro projects geothermal power plants and generation facilities.
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer Renewables to join our growing team in the renewable energy sector. Based in Geelong this role focuses on solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across largescale projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop largescale PV system layouts
- Conduct PVsyst simulations and performance assessments
- Perform short circuit and load flow analysis (including using PowerFactory)
- Carry out insulation coordination studies (including PSCAD)
- Design and review protection systems
- Perform DC and AC arc flash assessments
- Support basic project and design management tasks
- Prepare bills of materials and basis of design documentation
- Deliver detailed DC design work
- Conduct feasibility studies and performance reviews of solar/BESS projects
About You
Suitable applicants will be able to / have:
- Bachelors degree in engineering
- Develop largescale PV system layouts
- Conduct PVsyst simulations and performance assessments
- Perform short circuit and load flow analysis (including using PowerFactory)
- Carry out insulation coordination studies (including PSCAD)
- Design and review protection systems
- Perform DC and AC arc flash assessments
- Support basic project and design management tasks
- Prepare bills of materials and basis of design documentation
- Deliver detailed DC design work
- Conduct feasibility studies and performance reviews of solar/BESS projects
- Problem solving / analytical skills;
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written);
- Familiar with relevant Australian Standards;
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively within a diverse and multidisciplinary environment;
The remuneration for this role is between $(inclusive of Superannuation)
