Building on our labs success in identifying genes and genetic variants associated with lupus susceptibility through genomewide association studies (GWAS) we are now investigating the functional effects of these variants. This includes utilizing patientderived primary immune cells and tissues as well as cell line models.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze human genetic and genomic data including GWAS and nextgeneration sequencing (NGS).
Develop and apply computational methods to interpret various types of biological data.
Integrate GWAS summary results with other data types (e.g. eQTL mQTL and functional genomic annotations) to identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers.
Contribute to the understanding of the functional consequences of lupusassociated genetic variants.
Desired Skills and Experience
Proficiency in statistical genetics bioinformatics and computational biology.
Expertise in analyzing largescale GWAS datasets including integration with functional genomic data.
Strong background in using genetics/statistics/bioinformatics software for data analysis and interpretation.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have a Ph.D. M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. (or expect to receive a doctoral degree soon).
Collaboration with experimental and clinical scientists to address specific target mechanism questions with genomic insights is essential. This position demands a highly motivated selfdriven individual with excellent teamwork and organizational skills. Creativity biological insight and problemsolving skills in computational research.
Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of GWAS data analysis methodologies.
Experience in investigating human genetic variation and its functional implications.
