Job Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and were looking for talented people who want to help.
Youll join a diverse team of software hardware and network engineers supply chain specialists security experts operations managers and other vital roles. Youll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Capacity Install Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. You will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our nextgeneration networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network. You will launch server technologies and solve diverse networking impairments. You will quickly and accurately assess a wide range of infrastructure issues which requires a good understanding of computers servers switches and various networking devices from both a hardware and software perspective and a demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new technology.
To be successful in this role you should possess technical aptitude written and oral communications skills and the ability to deal effectively with people in a wide variety of situations. In addition you must possess strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability. You will be able to leverage your experience exercising high levels of initiative judgment and diplomacy.
Logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. (GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States)
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
Carry a pager/cell phone for communication information emergency and oncall situations
Up to 20% travel within geographical work area is required. Some travel outside traditional work area may be requested including internationally.
Install test and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling including patch panels and patch cords.
Linux/Unix Administration
Physical requirements Any physical requirements are expectations with reasonable accommodations.
The ability to sit in front of computer for entire scheduled 8hour shift with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail
Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41 pounds or more
Walk job sites in uneven terrain
Work at heights and from ladders

1 years of relevant experience in data center operations IT support or a similar technical field
1 years of troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve undefined technical Willingness to participate in a primary responder rotation and support 24/7 data center operations
An Associates degree technical certification or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g. computer science networking engineering etc.)
Experience working in a Data Center environment
Understanding of network design protocols and troubleshooting
Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
Understanding of indepth hardware knowledge (e.g. PCIe)
