What Youll Be Doing:

  • Waste Management: Oversee hazardous and nonhazardous waste storage and disposal including the operation of the Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area.
  • Atmospheric Testing: Conduct atmospheric testing for safe personnel entry and hot work in confined spaces.
  • Inspections: Assist with annual vessel and facility Workplace Hazard Inspections and conduct daily waterfront inspections.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain a working knowledge of safety environmental hazardous material and hazardous waste regulations ensuring adherence to relevant laws and standards.
  • Occasional travel and overtime when necessary.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with colleagues offering safety advice and solutions.
  • Safety Awareness: Maintain a continuous safety oversight posture always ensuring a safe working environment.

What Youll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid state drivers license and eligibility to operate company/government vehicles.
  • Medically qualified and able to wear a negative pressure respirator.
  • Capacity to acquire relevant skills and knowledge
  • Ability to obtain a CONFIDENTIAL security clearance.

Preferred: (must be obtained within 180 days if not possessed upon hire):

  • Two (2) years of education/experience with hazardous materials or relevant military experience.
  • AHERA Building Inspector Certification
  • 40hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • HW42 Certification
  • OSHA 10hr. Maritime Card
  • Certified Asbestos Worker with current Washington State license
  • Shipyard Competent Person (GasFree) Certification
  • HWAA Operator (HW49) qualification

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Frequent standing walking bending climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional stooping squatting kneeling and pushing/pulling.
  • Ability to work outdoors 80% of the time with exposure to moderate noise levels heat in summer and cold in winter.
