DescriptionThe Pharmacy Purchasing Clerk is responsible for the purchase of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical supplies for the department and ensures the availability of pharmaceuticals while maintaining inventory within budgetary requirements; recommends the stocking of items with the potential of reducing costs in materials and personnel time. This position relies heavily on instructions and preestablished guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under close supervision.
Responsibilities- Inventory Management: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Adequate supply of medications and supplies is maintained such that there is no lack of medications at all times.
- Information about backorders is obtained and communicated to appropriate team member and/or resolved immediately.
- Recalled medications are removed from stock appropriate paperwork is completed and appropriate team member is notified.
- Biannual inventory process is completed within specified timeframes as required.
- Recordkeeping: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Invoices are reconciled and paid to suppliers in full by due date at all times as evidenced by continuity service.
- Files are accurately maintained and stored for easy retrieval by team members and auditors at all times.
- Contract Compliance: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Medications and supplies are ordered at the best contract price possible all of the time.
- Authorized pharmaceutical representatives are seen and/or directed to apppropriate team member.
- Contract changes are notified to the pharmacy director immediately.
- Other Duties as Assigned: This will have been satisfactorily performed when
- Other duties as assigned are completed.
- Assistance in projects is provided as needed.
Qualifications- 3 years in Hospital Pharmacy
- High School Diploma
- Per certification requirements
- Excellent computer skills
- Louisiana Board of Pharmacy Technician Certificate; PHT
Required Experience:
IC
