Job Summary :
Assure that patient physician and associate needs are met through efficient and effective supervision of the Echocardiography department by the accurate timely and courteous completion of Echocardiography diagnostic tests and verification of test accuracy by associates in a competent and professional manner.
Provide cardiopulmonary diagnostic services and facilitate patient care through timely reports to physicians in accordance with the Hospital and Departmental mission statements policies and procedures.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversee the training of new associates assign department staff to complete job duties in an efficient and timely manner.
- Work toward and maintain Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Adult Echocardiography (IACAE) status.
- Maintain department reports records and statistics for administrative regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Use common sense and special medical skills to care for the sick or handicapped with regard to the patients age and diagnosis.
- Annually and as needed evaluate the performance of Echocardiography staff.
- Assist in the budgeting process.
- Act as an educational resource for medical nursing or administrative staff.
- Maintain competence in Echocardiographic testing on all age groups in both the Inpatient and Outpatient settings
- Follow Departmental Hospital and Human Resources Policy & Procedures and hold staff accountable for the same.
- Utilize independent judgment with realtime and offline manipulation of Echocardiographic images for capture display and analysis of echocardiography data.
- Prepare preliminary reports for review and interpretation by Cardiologist including comparison of previous studies.
- Directly interact with the patient and physician in receipt review scanning and reporting of Echocardiograms.
- Promote an environment that focuses on patient safety.

Education:
Successful completion of a CAAHEP approved School of Ultrasound Technology or Cardiovascular Technology.
Five (5) years minimum work experienced required.
Twoyear Allied Health degree in Ultrasound Technology Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent education.
Licenses or Certifications:
Registration or Certification by one of the following authorities is required:
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
