THE ROLE

The Category Management Director is the lead Category Advisor for a respective Category and is responsible for delivering Category Sales & Market Share Growth for Walmart. The Category Management Director leverages category expertise compelling story telling skills and superior analytics & insights to establish themselves as the trusted resource for the Walmart Senior Merchant. In this role you will own the relationship with the Walmart Senior Merchant and be responsible for strategy development assortment/shelving recommendations & delivering the Walmart Physical & Digital Shelf with excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver Thought Leadership & Category Expertise to Walmart Merchant Team

  • Partner with Walmart to clearly define OMNI Category Strategies that deliver Sales & Market Share Growth

  • Provide actionable reporting insights and marketplace analysis across the Category to influence decisions and strategies to grow the category

  • Lead the Walmart Modular Process and execute with excellence

  • Determine Develop and Execute Breakthrough Physical & Digital shelf concepts

  • Collaborate with Internal Category Experts to deliver BIC Shelving & Assortment Recommendations across both the Physical & Digital Shopping Environment

  • Collaborate with Shopper Insights managers to Provide Best In Class Insights

  • Lead manage and inspire a multiperson team

  • Proactively anticipate the business needs of the Walmart merchants and provide insightful thoughtful data driven recommendations on growing the Walmart business

  • Proactively provide competitive updates & landscape assessments to Walmart Merchant Team

  • Develop future modular recommendations (12 years out) and sellin and execute inmarket tests

Job Qualifications

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong customer collaboration and selling skills

  • Ability to distill complex data into simple stories

  • Strong thought leadership and influencing skills

  • Ability to proactively set and lead productive meeting agendas

  • Superior communication skills (written verbal presentation)

  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to identify root causes link strategies and objectives to develop compelling stories and recommended actions

  • Experience with Key Category Management Tools (i.e. ProSpace PowerBI Excel Nielsen etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Have a BA/BS from accredited university

  • 5 years of relevant CPG Sales or customer business development experience

  • Have a valid drivers license and willingness to travel on the job

  • Be willing to immediately relocate

  • Be willing to relocate throughout a career

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problemsolving abilities

  • Have experience leading change and developing organizations

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
