SALARY: Salary and Benefits: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Board of School Inspectors of School District 86 Will County Illinois and the Council #86 of the American Federation of Teachers Local 604 of School District #86 found on the following link: Teachers Contract

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the building principal the classroom teacher is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth to enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSE:

  1. Professional Educator License with and/or Language Arts Mathematics Social Science and Science Endorsement or Required Endorsement.
  2. Demonstrated capabilities in leadership public and community relations and academic competence.
  3. Applicants must possess effective behavior management skills.
  4. Applicants must be able to structure a classroom to maximize student learning.
  5. Applicant must be able to establish effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  6. Demonstrated capabilities in leadership public and community relations and academic competence.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of the course outlines curriculum and text used.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To implement all district policies as they relate to the classroom.
  2. Guarantee every student shall receive an equal opportunity for an education.
  3. Develops and implements lesson plans for the curriculum program assigned.
  4. Present subject matter follows the guidelines outlined by the state and district.
  5. Plans and uses appropriate instructional strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect differentiation and accommodations based on the individual needs of the students assigned.
  6. Uses available data to drive instructional decisionmaking.
  7. Works cooperatively with gradelevel and content area teams to plan and modify curricula as needed.
  8. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals objectives and methods according to state and district requirements.
  9. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals student teachers and volunteers if applicable.
  10. Uses technology actively in the teaching and learning process.
  11. Assists students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
  12. Continually assesses student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  13. Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the district and school.
  14. Creates an effective environment conducive to learning and appropriate physical social and emotional development of students.
  15. Manages student behavior in the classroom utilizing appropriate classroom management techniques and in accordance with district requirements.
  16. Maintains professional competence through inservice professional development opportunities.
  17. Requisition instructional materials and supplies as required.
  18. Attend all meetings as required such as faculty parentteacher conferences etc.
  19. Prepare for conduct and attend parentteacher conferences as required.
  20. Supervises students in outofclassroom activities during the school day.
  21. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with state and district testing protocols.
  22. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
  23. Maintain commitment to ongoing professional development.

SUPERVISORY ROLE: Students are assigned to the classroom.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  1. Strong communication public relations and interpersonal skills.
  2. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information collaborative efforts and feedback.
  3. Ability to compose correspondence reports and/or other required written materials.
  4. Ability to read analyze and interpret information.
  5. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions inquiries and/or complaints.
  6. Displays courtesy tact and respect when dealing with others.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  1. Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers common fractions and decimals consistent with the duties of this position.

REASONING ABILITY:

  1. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and information furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
  2. Ability to identify and define problem(s) collect and analyze data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Maintains appropriate confidentiality.
  2. Promotes a harassmentfree environment.
  3. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships; demonstrates a commitment to teamwork.
  4. Ability to learn and utilize office equipment computers and software especially as systems are updated.
  5. Ability to react well under pressure handle and balance multiple demands at one time work with frequent interruptions and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
  6. Extensive knowledge of and ability to perform duties in compliance with all district Board state and federal laws methods requirements policies procedures and activities pertinent to the duties of this position.
  7. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  8. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate files and records.
  9. Ability to meet strict deadlines.

Employee experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines. The noise level in this environment is quiet to moderate. Duties are performed primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors.
