Job Title: Sr. Engineering Manager Applications / Engineering Manager Applications Company: Lex Products Department: Product Development Reports to: VPEA Summary: Lex Products a leading manufacturer of innovative power distribution solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Sr. Engineering Manager Applications. Reporting to the VP of Engineering & Analytics the Engineering Manager Applications will be responsible for the Applications Engineering team and will play a pivotal role in designing configurable applications (quotes and orders) for cables portable power distribution units panels and smart power products. This position requires strong technical expertise attention to detail project management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams. Responsibilities: - Configurable Application Design:
- Lead the design and development of configurable applications (quotes and orders) for cables portable power distribution units panels and smart power products.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including Manufacturing Engineering Product Development and Sales & Marketing to understand customer requirements and translate them into accurate and efficient application designs.
- Develop innovative and userfriendly solutions that streamline the quoting and ordering process ensuring a seamless customer experience.
- Identify opportunities for automation and customization (i.e. Configure Price Quote (CPQ) Solutions) within the application design process to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Work with the team to meet or exceed goals for OTFR and DFR and report on Applications Engineering metrics as required. Develop and maintain a lead time chart that communicates to the organization what the expected engineering lead times are.
- Develop and enforce design/drawing standards for all work products leaving the Applications Engineering group.
- Ensure that a robust peer review process is in place and is being followed
- Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Applications Engineering team ensuring consistent adherence to design standards and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment promoting knowledge sharing and crossfunctional collaboration.
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Service teams to understand customer needs address technical inquiries and provide timely support.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement of the configurable applications especially with Manufacturing Engineering.
- Develop and execute onboarding and training plans with the Applications Engineering staff.
- Technical Expertise:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in power distribution solutions including cables portable power distribution units panels and smart power products.
- Stay updated on industry trends emerging technologies and regulatory requirements related to power distribution applications.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the Applications Engineering team assisting with complex inquiries or design challenges.
- Collaborate with the Product Development team to provide input on new product features enhancements and customization options based on customer needs.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and refine the applications design process to improve efficiency accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Identify areas for automation standardization and system integration to streamline workflows and eliminate redundant tasks.
- Work closely with IT and other relevant teams to implement process improvements leveraging technology and tools to enhance the applications design process.
Requirements: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in applications engineering or a related role within the power distribution industry.
- Indepth knowledge of power distribution products including cables portable power distribution units panels and smart power products.
- Strong understanding of configurable application design principles with experience in quoting and order management systems.
- Proficient in CAD software and other design tools used for applications engineering.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills capable of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fastpaced dynamic environment managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
