Position:Transportation DirectorLocation:Milford Public Schools DistrictSchedule:12monthsSalary:$To Start:July 1 2025Milford Public Schools seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Transportation to oversee our comprehensive student transportation system. In this pivotal role you will maintain daily communication with families school staff and our contracted bus company to ensure seamless operations. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the safe efficient and economical transportation of all ideal candidate will excel at recruiting training and managing drivers while overseeing the maintenance and operation of the Milford Public Schools vehicle fleet. You will also coordinate transportation logistics for afterschool programs extracurricular activities athletic events and field trips across all district candidates must demonstrate exceptional organizational abilities outstanding communication skills and a talent for building positive relationships with diverse stakeholders. Join our team and make a meaningful impact on our educational community through effective transportation :Duties:Manages the daily operations of the districts transportation system; Manages the yearly rollout of all aspects of bussing for each school year to include design of all bus routes bus stops and student bus assignments; Oversees the in district and out of district transportation;Oversees the MPS fleet of busses and vans and schedules their routes;Handles all communications regarding transportation with parents the schools and administration both written and verbal; Acts as the transportation subject matter expert for the school district. Analyzes and recommends improvement and enhancement to transportation operations for future implementation; Supervises the Crossing Guards & Crossing Guards with Traffic Duties; Supervises the transportation department budget including supporting the annual budget process submitting purchase order requisitions approving invoice payments and proper tracking and reporting;Follows all applicable state and local purchasing and procurement laws and district policies including obtaining quotes supporting bid processes and managing transportationrelated contracts;Maintains healthy and sustainable relationships with vendors to ensure service quality responsiveness and compliance with contractual obligations;Oversees and manages the maintenance of district owned vehicles;Executes the purchase of district vehicles;Ensures all drivers and vehicles meet state local and federal requirements;Provides reports and updates to the Superintendent of Schools as needed in a timely manner; Other duties as of:School policies rules and regulations;Routine filing and record keeping procedures;Oral and written communication skills;Policies and procedures of school transportation;Operation of a computer and assigned software;Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy;Health and safety regulations;First aid and CPR procedures; Mandated reporting requirements;Experience managing complex logistics and schedules;Ability to adapt and adjust to changing conditions and variables;Establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with : Bachelors Degree preferred Experience: A minimum of 1year of experience working with schoolage children preferred.
