Job Description

Wurzak Hotel Group as part of the Dalmar & Element Hotel in downtown Fort Lauderdale is lookingfor an energetic and professional PBX OPERATOR / GUEST SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE to join their vibrant Guest Services and Front Desk team. The candidate we seek will be responsible for supporting our guests by operating switchboards connecting callers to the appropriate person and answering guest questions or requests.

General Requirements

  • Operates the PBX equipment by accepting incoming calls assisting outgoing calls scheduling and setting wakeup calls and paging guests to provide timely and efficient service.
  • Contributes and maintains established information and communications sources such as department and front desk log books in order to enhance department communications and operations.
  • Promptly responds to guest requests and escalates guest concerns or inquiries to the appropriate leader or department for quick resolutions.
  • Provides assistance to other employees and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and the hotel.
  • May control cash transactions at the front desk and maintains complete responsibility for personal bank as specified by hotel bank agreement policy.
  • Maintains a friendly cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Perform all checkin and checkout tasks.
  • Manage online and phone reservations.
  • Inform customers about payment methods and verify their credit card data.
  • Register guests collecting necessary information (like contact details and exact dates of their stay).
  • Welcome guests upon their arrival and assign rooms.
  • Provide information about our hotel available rooms rates and amenities.
  • Respond to clients complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with our housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms are clean tidy and fully furnished to accommodate guests needs.
  • Confirm group reservations and arrange personalized services for VIP customers and event attendees like wedding guests.
  • Upsell additional facilities and services when appropriate.
  • Maintain updated records of bookings and payments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned requested or deemed necessary by management.

Education & Experience

  • Previous hotel PBX / Front Desk experience required.
  • Excellent diplomacy and guest service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fastpaced environment.
  • Proficiency in the English language both verbal and written.
  • Supervisory skills may include followthrough problem solving organization training and communication.
  • Marriott experience a plus!
  • Must have high school graduate level mathematical aptitude; know standard cash handling procedures and knowledge of computerized cash register systems.
  • Must have past experience in dealing directly with the public and acquired general knowledge of basic customer service skills.
  • Must have prior hospitality experience.
