Job Description

Qualifications:Advanced degree in social work or related clinical field LICSW or equivalent licensure Minimum 2 years experience working with children/adolescentsProven leadership skillsProven communication organization and writing skillsAbility to work both collaboratively and independentlyUnderstanding of the therapeutic milieuSchedule:12 months/full timeSalary and benefits including vacation time determined by the Executive Director Supervised by: Clinical DirectorResponsibilities:Have comprehensive understanding of each child including psychological home school community culture socioeconomic factors and learning issuesProvide clinical leadership and understanding of social emotional goalsContribute program development and improvement in conjunction with long range clinical goalsUnderstand and represent Giffords culture and mission to staff students families and othersParticipate and collaborate in all appropriate leadership groupsProvide clinical consultation and training to staff and internsDevelop relationships with families facilitate family meetings and provide short term intervention Help develop and provide family servicesEstablish ongoing collaborative relationships with outpatient treatment teams state agencies support services and others working on behalf of studentsConduct ongoing assessment of students clinical needs and progress including crisis intervention as neededPresent and discuss cases at clinical consultation and facilitate clinical meetings with teamImplement recommendations from clinical consultsRespond to student behaviors in the classroom and throughout the milieu by utilizing Gifford behavioral systemsUtilizing Safety Care techniques help maintain community safetyAttend some team meetings contribute to IEPs and progress reports as neededParticipate in intakes as requested including conducting genograms and presenting new students to staff Plan and implement clinical and health groupsSupervise and evaluate clinical internsParticipate in weekly peer supervision and regular supervision with Clinical DirectorAttend intern seminar as requestedEnsure timely communication and documentation regarding incidentsHelp maintain appropriate comprehensive and confidential clinical recordsAttend and participate in inservice trainingRemain up to date (daily checks) with all internal email and voicemail messagesParticipate in a few night meetings Help maintain a safe positive work and learning environment for all by adhering to the principles of conduct described in Giffords policy manuals and by treating all Gifford community members with fairness and respectDemonstrate respect for diversity among our staff and student body and promote an atmosphere which values this diversityUnderstand and represent Giffords culture and mission to students families and othersWithin the context of your position at Gifford and as the job evolves be open to new ideas opportunities and responsibilities assigned by your supervisor and/or the Executive DirectorPhysical RequirementsAbility to participate in outdoor physical activities to include kneeling stooping and lifting up to 25 pounds
