In this vital role the Director of Advocacy Relations for Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) will lead the development and execution of patient advocacy strategy for this rare autoimmune condition. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by partnering with patients caregivers and advocacy organizations navigating the complexities of TED. Youll serve as a trusted voice within the rare disease communityamplifying patient perspectives fostering strategic partnerships and advancing solutions where the need is greatest.
It is highly desired that this role be based in Deerfield IL reporting to the Senior Director Rare Disease Advocacy Relations however other remote US locations may be considered.
Lead the development and execution of a TED advocacy strategy focused on raising disease awareness supporting diagnosis and addressing accessrelated needs.
Cultivate deep trustbased partnerships with TED advocacy organizations patients and caregivers ensuring the rare disease community is at the center of everything we do.
Champion education and awareness by collaborating with advocacy partners to close diagnostic gaps support programs that bring the TED community together and empower patients to speak with their healthcare providers about their symptoms.
Partner with Marketing Medical Communications and Patient Access teams to amplify patient voices and develop programs that enhance understanding of TED.
Embed the patient voice and integrate actionable insights from the TED community across crossfunctional strategies ensuring lived experiences meaningfully shape decisions priorities and solutions.
Develop scalable tailored advocacy approaches grounded in empathy and rare disease expertise recognizing that traditional models may not meet the needs of this smaller often underserved community.
Establish clear metrics and feedback mechanisms to evaluate the impact of advocacy initiatives ensuring efforts are aligned with strategic goals and continuously informed by community needs and outcomes.
Elevate Amgens reputation in rare disease through cocreated meaningful programs with the patient community that reflect shared goals build longterm trust foster empowerment and a sense of belonging.
Operate with agility and integrity adapting to evolving community needs while staying aligned with business priorities.
Cultivate a highperforming team aligned with the urgency and compassion required to make a difference in the lives of rare disease patients.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of patient advocacy and/or healthcare policy experience
Masters degree and 7 years of patient advocacy and/or healthcare policy experience
Bachelors degree and 9 years of patient advocacy and/or healthcare policy experience
Preferred Qualifications:
7 years of experience with patient advocacy groups including direct work in rare disease communities or with lowprevalence conditions.
Demonstrated ability to design and lead patient advocacy strategies in areas where diagnosis is delayed awareness is limited and treatment options are evolving such as rare disease.
Experience navigating the complexities of small highly engaged patient communities where individuals often serve as both advocates and subject matter experts.
Strong understanding of how rare disease patients and caregivers engage through nontraditional channels including online communities grassroots initiatives and decentralized peer support networks.
Familiarity with the diagnostic and referral challenges common in rare autoimmune or specialty conditions.
Experience articulating the value of innovation in rare diseases particularly where standard pathways for access data and reimbursement may not apply.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to diverse audiences and perspectives.
Sensitivity to diverse groups of people both internal and external with the ability to manage many different opinions and perspectives including tolerance for ambiguity.
Strong executive presence with a demonstrated reputation internally and externally as a respected and collaborative partner.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to relevant skills experience and qualifications.
