Description

The Sr Director Nursing 4 oversees all divisional operations develops and recommends policies and procedures relevant to the assigned division evaluates divisional performance develops positive relationships between hospital andcommunity agencies and establishes personnel performance evaluation standards in an effort to ensure the provision of highquality patient care services. Directs the development of Perioperative Services financial operations divisional operating and capital budgets ensures periodic equipment maintenance and provides guidance and support to staff members. Also investigates new techniques and equipment and collaborates with physicians regarding clinical aspects of patient care.



Responsibilities

1. Leadership
Serves on administrative committees and attends meetings to provide consultation and recommendations to Administration regarding the departments area of expertise.
Develops positive relationships between the hospital and community agencies special interest and civic groups and professional affiliations by acting as a hospital representative. Works through civic groups and public education activities to improve community health and foster the hospitals image as a leader in the health care industry.
Recommends divisional policies and procedures that are consistent with the mission and the operating goals and objectives of the hospital. Assists in the development and implementation of organizationwide programs policies and procedures that further the attainment of hospital objectives. Monitors the utilization and application of policies and procedures in order to ensure that high quality health care services are provided to the community.
Provides guidance and support to staff members aids in removing performance barriers and facilitates effective problemsolving among employees. Reviews departmental performance identifies performance deficits and implements prudent recommendations that promote departmental efficiency. Identifies resolves and facilitates the resolution of departmental problems and encourages employees to voice ideas for better hospital operation improved communication between staff members and higher quality health care services.


2. Program Management and Daily Operations
Coordinates Perioperative Services financial operations and assists the Vice President of Patient Care Services in developing special projects and directing new programs and revisions the improve upon the quality and operating efficiency of existent services in an effort to promote the provision of highquality health care services by the hospital.
Estimates future division needs: personnel equipment and supply needs in order to ensure the attainment of operating goals. Develops recommends and implements the annual capital equipment personnel and operating budget for the department. Conducts periodic reviews of departmental performance analyzes budget variances and implements responsive action.
Reviews and controls the efficient procurement and use of equipment. Ensures that periodic equipment maintenance is carried out in a prudent and efficient manner that controls hospital costs ensures patient safety and promotes the provision of highquality health care services.
Develops and maintains financial and statistical information systems and assists in educating nursing management and staff members in budget control financial analysis and cost effectiveness procedures in order to ensure prudent divisional and hospital operations toward improving the overall environment of care.
Develops required reports and maintains accurate records for use in evaluating departmental performance. Identifies ways of improving current services and consults with supervisors on employee and operational issues and problems.
Establishes divisional standards for the evaluation of personnel performance in an effort to ensure efficient divisional operations meet employee training and development needs and promote the provision of highquality health care services by the division. Monitors and evaluates the performance of reporting personnel and strives to ensure that all employees are treated fairly and with compassion and respect.
Develops and maintains documentation required for successful employee development and administrative and divisional communication. Supervises and participates in the efficient recording of pertinent patient care data utilizing the computerized medical record and manual documentation in order to promote timely and efficient access to required information throughout the organization. Preserves the confidentiality of data and information identified as sensitive in order to ensure the protection of patient dignity and privacy.


3. Performance Improvement and Quality
Investigates new techniques practices and equipment in an effort to identify ways of maximizing the quality and efficiency of health care services provided to patients. Keeps administration informed of the divisions activities needs and problems in order to promote operational efficiency within the division.
Promotes and encourages the growth and development of staff members by encouraging their participation in approved continuing education activities such as professional conferences seminars and workshops. Advocates continuing education as a means of promoting the highquality services provided by all departmental personnel.
Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance by remaining current with the latest trends in field of expertise through participation in jobrelevant seminars and workshops attendance at professional conferences and affiliations with national and state professional organizations.
Utilizes the performance improvement process to identify opportunities for improving outcomes in clinical effectiveness clinical practice service operations and standards. Provides oversight for the development and implementation of standards. Integrates technology resources with plans and needs for departmental growth. Collaborates with the managers and education coordinator to develop and implement improvements accordingly.

Qualifications
  1. Experience At least 5 years of clinical experience as an RN; 2 years experience in nursing management
  2. Education Bachelors Degree (must have or be working towards Masters Degree)
  3. Special Skills Nursing Business or Health Care Administration
