TITLE: Site Social Worker
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To promote and enhance the overall academic mission by providing services to students and their families which strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arizona State Social Worker license (required)
- Master degree in social work from an accredited college or university (preferred)
- One (1) year of successful social work experience (preferred)
- Obtain and maintain NCI First Aid and CPR certifications
- Knowledge of school district and community resources available for children and families
- Ability to assess family and student needs and provide intervention support
- Ability to coordinate activities with related and specialist staff
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers parents and the community; excellent human relations skills; skill in both oral and written communication
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with a diverse population of staff students and parents
- Ability to develop and maintain required records and reports; good typing and computer literacy skills (required)
- Must be able to maintain a valid Arizona Drivers license and be able to drive between schools and homes
- Bilingual (preferred)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as liaison between family school and community agencies.
- Conduct home visits to gather information to assess family needs and/or to address attendance problems.
- Provide assistance with the Student Support process by attending/participating in meetings; administering questionnaires and standardized rating scales/assessments completing parent interviews and obtaining needed signatures.
- Make referrals for students and parents/guardians to appropriate resources within the school community.
- Provide or arrange transportation for patents/guardians and students to school meetings clothing bank and medical/social services appointments.
- Facilitate families understanding of school policies and help families utilize school services.
- Maintain daily calendar and student contact log to document services.
- Consult with parents/guardians on effective intervention strategies.
- Identify cultural ethnic financial physical or emotional problems that might constitute a reason for learning failure or problems in school functioning and provide support to alleviate barriers.
- Confer and work with school personnel regarding problems affecting the students academic progress behavior and personal wellbeing.
- Work with families in exploring alternative school programs to meet students needs.
- Work with school personnel and community resources to develop and coordinate services to meet the identified special needs of students.
- Provide intervention services to students and their families during crisis situations or as needed.
- Follow state law and district policies in cases involving child abuse and neglect.
- Maintain accurate records for compliance with district federal and state regulations.
- Conduct home visits to interview students and family members to assess needs and to address attendance problems and assist family in accessing appropriate community resources.
- Coordinate and maintain community outreach projects/resources by participating and acting as lead in assigned committees.
- Assist with upkeep and disbursement of clothing/shoes/hygiene items through the CWK clothing bank to provide for students needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
